Home robots are coming. The first ones in will be the small ones that are safe around kids and pets. Hugging Face's Pollen Robotics just opened pre-orders for Microduck, a $399 biped. 25cm, under 800g, 15 motors, a camera, a small LiDAR, two IMUs, and an articulated beak that picks things up. Ships with 7 pre-trained behaviors including walking, kicking, and roller skating. Open on GitHub under Apache-2.0: the SDK, the simulator, and the RL training pipeline. So you can teach it new tricks.

this begs the question what does ZDR really mean and how is it verified/vouched for by all these harnesses/routers that got access to it and dispersed it all for free this is the part where you say "what's the catch?" lol
Ox Alpha revealing that it’s running on Chinese chips after offering 100T tokens per day is such a subtle declaration of war. We are living in a novel.

🛑 Do not add the ChatGPT Messages “plugin” to Apple Messages. And never use iMessage, SMS or RCS again. You’ll never know if the person you’re texting has been stupid and irresponsible enough to add this silent monitoring bot to your conversation. Governments no longer need to pressure Apple for a backdoor. OpenAI just built one for them. Every text you send them can end up on OpenAI’s servers, available to intelligence agencies and law enforcement through US legal process, and to other governments who can demand access through treaties and cross border agreements. Facebook Messenger is now safer than iMessage. @OpenAI just killed end to end encryption for Apple. Article in my drafts folder.

immediately after I went to the recent @UFBots, after about 5 minutes, the entire illusion of what these balance perfecting bots can do was dispelled show me the equivalent of our @BostonDynamics in terms of real world usability en masse. i have not seen china produce an equivalent yet. it's as if their entire purpose is to just... never fall down. thats all. what is the use of a body upright that can't do much of anything except not trip? what is the complexity add of: (~near perfect balance) x (hand-camera coordination) x (realtime safety analysis and maneuvers) it's as if china wants their robots to be super cool ninja warriors™ that can't do much else other than amazing kickflips and run very fast without falling but maybe that's the whole point? perfect on the cool factors first to wow the people and get them on the "yay technology!" side of things rather than our home turf's growing disdain and hatred regarding everything tech/ai/data related?
@deanwball @LeahLibresco I just mean they have an industrial base of these small form factor unitree bots that can move very quickly (they are like less than half the size of Optimus)— even when you go one of the robot fight parties in America nothing fun even happens because the… MoreLess
